INCENTIVE PROGRAMS - ALBERTA
Alberta's Energy Mix
When we talk about energy consumption we refer to Electricity, Natural Gas, Fuel Oil or Propane usage. The majority of the electricity generated in Alberta comes from coal fired power generation:

Data from the National Inventory Report 1990 - 2008 Greenhouse gas Sources and Sinks in Canada.
Coal provides a cheap source of electricity but also emits a high amount of greenhouse gases such as Carbon dioxide (CO2).
At Blackstone we offer alternative solutions to reduce the amount of coal fired electricity and natural gas required in your home. The first step is to understand how you use energy and how you can conserve it. Becoming more energy efficient will save you money in the long run as energy prices rise.
Alberta Government Incentives
In Alberta there are currently no grant programs for renewable energy implementation. There are however energy efficiency rebates available through Climate Change Central. Blackstone can help you to apply for rebates as part of our turnkey solutions.
Since 2008 there is a protocol in place via the Specified Gas Emitters Regulation for Solar Electricity Generation. This means that the savings generated can be aggregated into carbon Offsets. Blackstone can help in the evaluation and generation of carbon offsets and Greenhouse Gas savings.
